The Snow Must Go On…

DSC_1898Perhaps you are of the opinion that this has been a particularly harsh winter. Perhaps you are ready for spring, with all it’s warmth, green grass and temperatures slightly in an acceptable range for being outside longer than 3.4 seconds without your fingers feeling like frozen popsicles?

Well, so are we.

While the snow and ice can appear beautiful from inside the comfort of your cozy dwelling, it can be quite treacherous to travel in and difficult to keep cleared.

Flaherty & Collins employees have spent over 3,000 hours on snow-related removal since November 1, covering 92 apartment communities and 13,053 units. That’s a 70 percent increase from last winter. Our hard working staff has also dealt with 48 broken pipes and issued 25 Weather Advisory Notifications.

Just inside the greater Indianapolis Metro area, which includes 41 Flaherty & Collins Properties apartment communities, our diligent crew has spent 1,987.5 hours on snow related removal and maintenance. That’s an increase of 75 percent since last year.

At Ninety7Fifty on the Park in Orland, Illinois, 20 more inches of snow than the anticipated 38-inch average. In South Bend, 126 inches of snow has been recorded since November of last year – 42 inches of snow per month. And at The Residence at The COR in Ramsey, Minnesota, temperatures of -37 degrees have been recorded.

None us need those stats to know what a harsh winter it has been, but they give clarity to just what Mother Nature has dealt us this season. And we cannot thank our crew enough for their energy and efforts to make our communities safe and clean. We want those who call Flaherty & Collins Properties apartment communities home to remain as active as possible – no matter the forecast.
