Downtown Living Tour a Smashing Success

Last month, Axis participated in the 2014 Downtown Living Tour presented by Indianapolis Monthly. As proud as we were to show off the fantastic Axis project, which is now leasing, we were even more excited to learn this week that over $13,000 was raised for IPS Education Foundation, an organization that serves IPS students by working to create innovative, quality learning environments.

Marsh, located in the Axis building, served delicious food to our roughly 500 guests on Friday, September 12, which proved to be a cool late summer night. The Downtown Living Tour featured new and exciting developments in downtown Indianapolis. Another 500 guests toured the Axis property on Saturday, September 13 as part of the Tour.

RomWeber Flats Awarded Lt. Governor’s Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing

RomWeber IHCDA AwardWe get pretty excited for awards around the corporate office – it means a great deal to our staff to be recognized for our hard work and efforts! This past week, RomWeber Flats, managed by Flaherty & Collins Properties, was awarded the 2014 Lt. Governor’s Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing and Rural Community Development, so we are especially thrilled.

“Through creative thinking and solid community planning, the former RomWeber furniture factory was given new life as an affordable senior community,” said Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann. “the building leads the way in revitalization of a blighted area, bringing residents and economic opportunity to downtown Batesville. RomWeber not only offers beautiful and affordable housing, its unique amenities include the Big Four Cafe and local retailers.”

The award was present by Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann at the annual Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA) Annual Housing and Community Economic Development Conference. The conference is organized by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and the Indiana Association for Community Economic Development (IACED).

“RomWeber is honored to be recognized as a innovate community that serves the best interests of both its residents and the town,” said Jill Meals-Herron, Flaherty & Collins Vice President of Property & Asset Management. “We want to thank the Lt. Governor and the IHCDA for this award.”

Romweber Flats is centrally located in downtown Batesville, Indiana and is situated in a once-vacant plant that was the former home to the 140-year-old Romweber Furniture Company. RomWeber Flats provides 84 apartments for seniors in the Batesville community. With a recent expansion, RomWeber Flats is utilizing Medicaid vouchers to assist residents with living expenses, allowing them to continue their independent lives.
