Flaherty & Collins Countdown: Highlights of 2013

The CORIt’s that time again, to celebrate the accomplishments of the year nearly complete (just a few more hours left in 2013!) and begin to look forward at the excitement, hope and optimism that 2014 will bring. At Flaherty & Collins, we had quite the busy year. Here are some of our highlights of 2013:

Mozel Sanders FoundationAwards

From the three Prodigy Awards at the IAA President’s Dinner in October, to the CAMME Award presented to Ninety7Fifty, we were honored to be recognized throughout the year. Romweber Flats was awarded the prestigious Rosemary Prentice Award for Historic Preservation in August. In November, we were named the Mozel Sanders Foundation Company of the Year and were named second on the IBJ’s 2013 Year in Review Top Stories for the announcement of the proposed development at Market Square North. And, the Indy Chamber also gave F&C a similar distinction as a top-10 story of the year.

In February, we officially broke ground on Axis in downtown Indianapolis, featuring a Marsh grocery store, state of the art amenities and beautiful views of the heart of downtown. Axis will open late Spring 2014. We also announced an exciting new project in Gladstone, Missouri – The Heights at Linden Square. Construction began in July and will open Summer, 2014. In October, we broke ground on The Depot at Nickel Plate, a wonderful new development in downtown Fishers, Indiana.

Giving Back

In November, F&C donated over 2,600 canned foods and assisted the Mozel Sanders Foundation for the organization’s annual Thanksgiving Day campaign, in conjunction with a $3,000 donation from Vision Communities, Inc., a not-for-profit organization.

Market SquareNew Development Announcements

This year, we announced two new, large scale development deals in Indianapolis and Cincinnati: Market Square and 4th and Race, respectively. Groundbreaking for both are scheduled in 2014.

Flood at Black Bear Creek

Though the natural disaster, we were humbled and honored with the amount of partnerships and relationships forged that came together to assist those affected in the Fort Wayne area. Pierre’s Entertainment, Mustard Seed, Pastor Carlton Lynch of New Beginning’s Church, Giving Tree Ministry, Steve Soots of Comcast, Jay Walker of The Eagles Nest, Happy’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Meijer, Aunt Millie’s, DuWayne Porter, Rachel Gaston, Coliseum Park Apartments, Woodview Manor, Lowe’s, Lake Forest Village Apartments, Ted Ballard of Abundant Life Clothing Bank Ministries, Archer’s Point, Beth Wyatt of the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne, SCAN, Windsor Oaks, Autumn Creek Apartments and Wilmar all played key roles in assisting in the recovery.

We opened several new properties under the Flaherty & Collins umbrella in 2013: Cambridge Square (Columbus, IN), Ninety7Fifty (Orland Park, IL) and The Residence at The COR (Minneapolis, MN).
