The Depot Officially Opens

Ribbon CuttingWhile The Depot at Nickel Plate in Fishers, Indiana has been leasing for some time (it’s currently at 72 percent leased in less than 9 months!), at Flaherty & Collins Properties, we have a tendency to make things official with a little style and panache, some treats and a few remarks from the projects main proponents. So it goes without saying we were pretty stoked to hold our Grand Opening ceremony for The Depot on Thursday, July 23.

Our awesome F&C team worked incredibly hard to make sure the building shined – and it certainly did. The Depot is one of the finest mixed-use apartment communities in the entire Midwest, with amenities that could rival those found in larger cities and towers.

Flaherty & Collins President Jerry Collins (right) and Construction President Chris Kirles share a fun moment at the Grand Opening of The Depot at Nickel Plate

As our own CEO, David Flaherty said, we’re extremely proud that through the combined efforts of the City of Fishers and Flaherty & Collins Properties, The Depot will bring in roughly $100 million to the City over the next 20 years. It’s the kind of environment that Fishers envisioned when the concept of this project began in 2012.

“About three years ago, we drove around downtown Fishers, dreaming about what could be possible,” said Mayor Scott Fadness. “We are truly great partners in this project. When I see this downtown come to life like this, to see it transform into a vibrant downtown, it’s truly great.”

Flaherty & Collins Properties CEO, David Flaherty, agreed.

“Developments like this don’t happen without great Cities and Towns,” Flaherty said. “And Fishers is one of the best we’ve ever worked with.”

You can view the remarks by Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness, David Flaherty, OneZone Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Dan LeReau and Vice President Dan Canan and F&C Construction President (and lead developer on the project) below:

Opening Up The Heights Linden Square

IMG_1710Last week, members of the Flaherty & Collins Properties team traveled west from our corporate offices in Indianapolis to the beautiful city of Kansas City. It was finally time to officially open The Heights Linden Square, Gladstone’s finest new apartment community.

You’ve seen posts of progress and read the list of amenities, but until you see The Heights in person, you’ve not seen anything yet. Nestled in the heart of downtown Gladstone’s urban core, The Heights looks like something that was meant to be there, between dining options, entertainment and more.

Our team arrived sporadically throughout the early part of the week to ensure the Grand Opening of The Heights Linden Square was truly, well, grand!

IMG_8604

Over 200 people came to enjoy the ribbon cutting ceremony and hear some words on the project from Mayor Bill Garnos, City Manager Kirk Davis, Suzanne McKinney of the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce and Flaherty & Collins Properties CEO David Flaherty and Vice President Ryan Cronk.

And as Mr. Flaherty indicated in his notes, public/private partnerships are our specialty! These mixed-use development projects create numerous opportunities for both residents and the city.

Snow & Co. provided a wonderful buffet for guests and we raffled off gifts from Google, Nest, and the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce. Attendees were able to tour the property’s numerous amenities, as well as visit the model and guest suite for a taste of the life residents will and have been enjoying!

Our team enjoyed some great BBQ and many other fun activities as well! It was a pleasure to open The Heights last week and we hope everyone enjoys the property as much as we do.

We’re getting a little excited around the office this week, with the Grand Opening of Marsh at Axis just a few days away. As the Indianapolis Star highlighted today, Marsh will open a 42,000-square-foot, grocery at Axis in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday, May 15, 2014 that will serve as a new prototype, flagship store. The grand opening activities will begin at 9am with comments from Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard before the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“We are excited to have Marsh opening to new customers, many of whom will be Axis residents,” said David Flaherty, CEO of Flaherty & Collins Properties, who developed and constructed the Axis project. “This incredible store will serve as an anchor to Axis and the downtown area for many years to come. We are pleased that Marsh chose Flaherty & Collins and Axis to develop this concept. The project has been such a positive experience from a partnership and teamwork perspective between Marsh and our construction team.”

The new design for the store is the first of its kind in the nation and features extra space for produce, meats and a bakery. The store features top-quality meats and seafood, fresh produce and an expansive deli section. The bakery touts fresh-baked breads, cakes and pastries, as well as numerous beer and wine selections, with labels from local brew masters and vintners.

In addition, Marsh offers an extensive salad bar and other prepared meals for carry-out purchase or for enjoyment in the store’s mezzanine-level dining area. This café mezzanine area features free WiFi and the availability to order food from a kiosk in a lounge-like atmosphere, then pick-up from the main level.

Marsh is the first component of Axis to open, with luxury residential units to come this summer. Developed and constructed by Flaherty & Collins Properties, Axis is a mixed-use, multifamily development featuring 330 luxury apartments and more than 25,000 square feet of exterior amenity space.

Flaherty & Collins Vice President of Development, Jim Crossin noted that Axis is already experiencing great interest. “Pre-leasing is going quickly,” he said. Crossin noted that prospective residents will find apartment features that include granite countertops, Roman soaking tubs, wood-style flooring, stainless steel appliances, 9-foot ceilings and ceramic tile floors.
