2017 IAA Golf Outing

Once again, we can call the IAA Golf Outing a success! There was a great turnout for all of the companies and participants who were out to benefit the Indiana Multifamily Housing Political Action Committee.

Seeing familiar faces around every corner made it all the more fun for our employees who were scattered throughout the course all day long whether they were volunteering or golfing. The weather was perfect, the course was in great shape and everyone was walking around with a smile on their face. It does not get much better than that.

Every team member involved had a great time and we are looking forward to participating in next years IAA Golf Outing already!  You could say it is always a hard day in the office when you spend it at the golf course 😉

Check out some of our pics of  the day:

Thanks again to #IAAGolf2017! See you next year!

IAA PAC Golf Outing 2016 Recap

group photo

Each year the Indiana Apartment Association holds a golf outing with all proceeds going to the Indiana Multi Family Housing Political Action Committee, the legislative arm of the organization. IAA lobbies the State Legislature on behalf of all members on issues that have direct impact on the multifamily housing industry.

As expected, Flaherty & Collins Properties team members had a wonderful day supporting a great cause. Our own Melissa DeLong, who serves on the Golf Committee, also organized our fantastic Sycamore 1 Hole sponsorship, where our Baywatch theme was enjoyed by all!

The Axis team took a photo op – with a photobomb from Gavin Greene!

Our golf teams (just a couple of them shown here) were ready! In fact, the F&C team of Jerry Collins, Jeff Hammersley, Bill Schrage and Dave Humphries took home the title with a score of -20 under! Way to go, gents!

Assemble Maintenance Mania 2016

Maintenance Mania 2016 took place this week and it was another terrific event, and F&C represented well with our Thor-themed t-shirts!

The question was simple: who was worthy to wield the hammer of Thor and take on all comers at Maintenance Mania? Who was ready to assemble?

How it Works: Attendees compete in seven skill-based timed events and a racecar competition where the each participant makes a pinewood derby car out of maintenance materials. These table games are built around common maintenance activities. The following timed events are standard for all Maintenance Mania programs:

  • AO Smith Water Heater Installation
  • CFG Faucet Repair
  • Fluidmaster Toilet Repair
  • Frigidaire Icemaker Installation
  • Kidde Fire & Carbon Monoxide Safety Installation
  • Kwikset Key Control Deadbolt Test
  • Motorola Race Car Competition
  • Seasons Ceiling Fan Assembly

The two top individuals from each region will be eligible to go to the National Apartment Association Annual Conference in San Francisco this summer.

Well, Flaherty & Collins Properties answered that call and had the strength of many Thors!

The F&C team was in full force to cheer on our Maintenance Team – and won the Spirit Award! Our own Gavin Greene brought his snare drum.

All the cheering led to a 1st place finish in the Ice Maker Installation competition! Congratulations Paul Palacios!

MM 3

Westlake’s Bill Hess won Best Innovation for making his own HVAC parts! Congrats, Bill!

And we also have put our hands together and congratulate Renaldo Guerrero (Axis) for winning the Best Mustache in Maintenance Award and Fernando Herandez, Runner-Up of the Maintenance Above and Beyond Award.

And finally, special thanks to Derek Miller, Tammye Strickland and Julia Young (all pictured below) for their efforts with the F&C side of the event!

Flaherty & Collins Properties Raises over $3,700, Donates Goods to Mozel Sanders Foundation

Today, the Flaherty & Collins Properties team held it’s annual fundraiser in support of the Mozel Sanders Foundation Thanksgiving Day campaign. Through the efforts of its nearly 450 employees, F&C raised $3,794.71.

This year, Flaherty & Collins Properties held a Pie Eating Contest and Bake-Off event on
to serve as the basis of a donation to the Mozel Sanders Foundation in support of the foundation’s annual Thanksgiving Day campaign.
Participants were from all over our department areas: Grante Manning (Accounting), Andrew Moster (IT, KSMC Consulting), Ida McCombs (HR), Brandon Prince (Intern), Brian Moore (Marketing & Communications), Amber Woods Maintenance Team, Kim Whitaker (Compliance), Chris Kirles (Construction).
Marketing & Communications Director, Brian Moore, celebrated his win with a tasty medal (he’d had enough pie!).
Next, we held a bake-off auction, led by our esteemed resident auctioneer, Gavin Greene. Lisa Thomas’ (Accounting) cheesecake pulled in over $100 alone!
Construction President Chris Kirles enjoying a moment with RPM Alma Slash.
Flaherty & Collins Properties, which has donated to various areas of the Mozel Sanders Foundation for many years, had been collecting  non-perishable goods, personal hygiene products and household cleaning supplies over the past six weeks to help support Mozel Sanders’ efforts in this area during the holiday season and beyond.
Westlake (Indianapolis) donated the most goods – a full truckload!
Judges LaKeisha Jackson, Lynne Petersen and Stephanie Sanders were impressed with the baked goods and awarded trophies to our winners:
1st Place – Terry Corley (Accounting)

2nd Place – Bruce Mullen (Construction)

3rd Place – Ryan Cronk (well, his wife, Kelly)

The Foundation distributes more than 30,000 pounds of these items each month of the year.In 2014, over 2,000 volunteers served over 40,000 meals from 45 locations. In 2013, the average cost per meal was $4.50.
Flaherty & Collins President Jerry Collins and CEO David Flaherty presented a check to Stephanie Sanders of the Mozel Sanders Foundation.

Many thanks to all who helped make it happen, and to the Indiana Apartment Association (IAA) for letting us hold the event indoors! And now, Jill Herron and her planning team are in a sugar-induced coma!
