The 6th Annual Batesville Regional Fine Arts Fair, April 29 – May 1, kicks off Indiana’s 200 year birthday celebration in Batesville at the RomWeber Marketplace. The Fair features original works of art from artists from all across the tri-state and will be a great Mother’s Day shopping opportunity. Sponsors include the Batesville Bicentennial Committee, Art 4 The Light Studio and the Rural Alliance for the Arts. A special historical tribute to Indiana’s Bicentennial will be on display featuring items from the former RomWeber Furniture Company’s archives. They will include a rare, first edition plot of the town, furniture from the Company’s museum, design catalogs, rare photographs of the early years of Batesville, and much more.

A preview party will be held on Friday, April 29 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Reservations are encouraged and the cost is $10.00 per person and includes a glass of wine and hors’ devours. This will be the perfect opportunity to meet the artists and get the first chance to shop unique, one-of-a-kind gifts for Mother’s Day which is the following weekend. Musical entertainment will be provided by Miss Shannon’s Music Studio.

Show hours will be Saturday, April 30th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm featuring performances from the Batesville High School Steel Drum band at 11 am and Gyil (African xylophone) group at 1 pm, both under the direction of Leon Enneking. The Fair continues Sunday, May 1, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a 1 pm performance by the Batesville Jazz Group under the direction of Eric Stauffer. Demonstrations from Chainsaws for Charity and other artists will take place throughout the weekend.

A craft center will be available where children can create a jewelry box as a Mother’s Day gift for mom for just $5, free face painting by Batesville High School art students and other artistic craft opportunities. The show and parking are free to the public and benefits the Rural Alliance for the Arts. The public is invited to vote for their favorite Bicentennial logo created by students in the Batesville Schools.  The People’s Choice Awards will be handed out on Sunday at 12:30 pm.
