2017 IAA Midwest Multifamily Conference & Prodigy Awards Recap

Another year has come and gone in our world of development, construction and property management, as it seems  the annual Indiana Apartment Association (IAA) Midwest Multifamily Conference serves as harbinger of a year coming to a close. Here at F&C, we look forward to the annual conference as a opportunity for a management and leasing teams to renew their vigor with educational seminars, classes and meeting new vendors and seeing those we’ve partnered with for years.

And this year was no different, as our team loved the “circus”-style atmosphere and theme of the 2017 Midwest Multifamily Conference. F&C had over 90 nominations in the Prodigy Awards and Awards of Excellence categories. We were pleased to be recognized for four distinguished awards:

Spring Is Upon Us

spring

Well, that went fairly well.

After fearing snowstorms and ice and cold and faces that hurt from the wind, here we are in late March and we came out relatively unscathed.

That’s right, Spring has sprung – and after a mild winter no less. So with the change of seasons, it’s a good time to take a look at your beautiful abode and perhaps do a little cleaning.

Here’s a handy guide – 10 Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Apartment that we recommendQuick preview: it’s not all about cleaning. Decluttering is a big component of feeling like you have more space.

And to help get you through this process, we simply remind you of pools.

And all things associated with basking in the warmth of the sun near a pool.

You’re welcome. Now enjoy your week and get your apartment in order!

And the Award Goes To…

Yeah, the Oscars are, like, so last week.

But they’ve got nothing on Flaherty & Collins Properties, as the awards roll in throughout the year, not just one night. (#humblebrag) So, take that Leo!

This week, the Apartment Association of Southern Indiana (AASI) held it’s annual convention and awards program and our very own Jessica Coursey was named the “MVP” of the entire convention. Jessica is a bit of a “do-it-all”, jack of all trades type of person, and we couldn’t be more proud of her hard work! Her infectious effort must have been passed on to other F&C team members, as Sherry Riker was named the Rookie of the Year by AASI. Sherry is the amazing property manager at the successful new Downtown Terrace property in Petersburg, Indiana. J’Juan Helm was a finalist for Maintenance Technician of the Year as well.

Congratulations to Sherry, Jessica and J’Juan!

Meanwhile, back in Indianapolis, one of F&C’s newest projects, Axis, was scooping up a fairly prestigious honor on it’s own.

Axis was been named the Best Mixed-Use Retail Project by the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association’s Indiana Chapter. This is the second time Flaherty & Collins Properties has had a project win the award, with Cosmopolitan on the Canal taking home the hardware in 2011.

Caring on the Canal

During the holiday season, many of our Flaherty & Collins communities are engaged in activities and events to benefit our local areas. It is a proud tradition at F&C to give back, share and be proud partners in our communities.

In Indianapolis, Cosmopolitan on the Canal reached out to the St. Mary’s Child Center to adopt a family in need. St. Mary’s has a long history and mission of serving children whose families live in poverty. According to recent research, one in four Indiana children live in poverty.

Toys 2

Located just a few blocks from Cosmo, St. Mary’s made a perfect fit for residents to be able to stop in for a visit. Cosmo adopted five children from different families, ranging in age from 9 months to 17 years. Flyers were posted throughout the building and delivered to residents. With a goal of $100 per child, the residents of Cosmo went above and beyond, donating nearly a room full of gifts and personalizing items for the children adopted.

Letter

We are proud of our residents, not just at Cosmo, but throughout the Flaherty & Collins Properties portfolio, for sharing their kindness this season.
